In-wallet merchant advertising

Discuss enhancements to Auroracoin core here

by Bimmerhead » 24 Mar 2016 13:56

This would be a section of the main screen where merchants who accept Auroracoin can be promoted. This ad section would be controlled by the foundation who could sell the space to fund future development, or just use it to promote supporting merchants for free.

Edit: here is a blockchain-based ad network that could be used to manage the ads

I guess nobody really likes watching ads for fun. What is the main motivation of implementing such thing? Why should we need this?

The main motivation is so people know of some places to spend their AUR.

And as an incentive for merchants to accept AUR.

I think it would be better to point people to a separate site that lists them. You could do this through a "Did you know?" type of message.

What about a separate tab where wallet users can post items for sale in Aur? Like a bland.is classified ad.

I just hate the idea of in-wallet ads of any kind. it is a bad idea and de-credits the wallet. Would you buy stuff from a popup in your online-bank? .... well, I would not! there are million other ways to advertise aur merchants or swap old fishing-gear.... please just have the wallet a fast, clean and secure wallet, nothing else.

Well, at least I've got you guys posting to the forum!

It is also good to have the thread to show we discussed the idea and can point others to when they come up with a similar idea.

I'm with Biomike and Polarbear on this.

For one this would make us look cheap for sure. I highly doubt people like to see advertisements force-fed to them in the same place they keep their money.
