What is the best algo to mine on a home computer with a decent CPU and GPU?

Most sane would be Groestl, Qubit or Skein... the two others wouldn't even make sense.

this might be a good start page, http://ccminer.org/

the "cpuminer-multi" seems like a good one to use.

Well if you have Nvidia that is.

The best info for Nvidia miners can be found here on BitconTalk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0
The thread is for both cudaMiner and ccMiner.

I think ccMiner is only useful to mine Groestl though.

Anyone know of some good mining 101 guide that would benefit first time miners that want to use their home computer and mine some Auroracoin with their CPU or GPU?

For CPU mining it should be easy to pick up development on "guldenminer" again (renaming it of course).

We also still need mining pools for all algos setup before the switch.
